General and Reading Update
Hi guys,
This is just going to be a very quick post this week because I am beyond shattered both physically and emotionally.
The first part of the week was fairly okay but my dog’s gastrointestinal issues really began to flare up on Wednesday. But I know what to do, how to treat her because this is a long-term problem she has so I was not too concerned and she did begin to improve. But on Friday morning something in my gut told me that I needed to sew a few homemade face masks in case I needed to leave the house someday soon. Fast forward to 3am Saturday morning and my dog got really sick and her demeanor totally changed. She was unresponsive to normal cues that get her attention… so I had to phone the vet for an appointment.
I explained to them what was wrong with my dog and expressed my own fears about leaving the house because I am immuno-compromised and they were really understanding. They told me all the precautions they were taking and I felt reassured. So I left my home, complete with face mask, gloves etc., for the first time in 8 weeks and made my way to the vet practice. I handed over my dog to the vet in the car park and she examined the dog inside while I remained in my car with the vet talking to me over the phone.
Luckily my dog did not have to stay at the vet and just received an injection and some other medication but the last 24 hours monitoring her has been very stressful. Even this morning she was still very unresponsive but by about midday she began to perk up a little bit much to my relief.
She is definitely on the road to recovery but the next day or so I am sure will be a little bit fraught with stress and worry. I haven’t even picked up a book since Thursday night and honestly can’t remember much about the two books that I did read in the early part of the week. So I must apologise for neither blog hopping nor replying to comments over the last 48 hours or so. Things will hopefully be back to normal service in a day or two and I will then be able to catch up with all of you.
Much love everyone,
xo Emer

And Finally
If anyone wants to make their own homemade face mask then I recommend this YouTube video. It is extremely easy to follow and though the masks are a little finnicky to make they really do fit well and I felt a lot more confident going out wearing one rather than not when I went to the vets.
